#StopCullingWildBoarsInTamilNadu
The overpopulation, urbanization and commercialization in certain districts of Tamil Nadu, has resulted in the rise of conflicts between the farmers and wild boars in and around the forest areas. In order to counter this, the Tamil Nadu Government passed an order (GO) dated 22.06.2017 issuing instructions for killing of wild boars in 11 district forest divisions for a period of 12 months.
The Father of our nation said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” This GO of the government authorizes every villager to uncontrollably and arbitrarily kill our wild boars. The lack of guidelines on the issued GO could also be misused by individuals who hunt these helpless animals for the adrenal sports and for their expensive, rich meat. Furthermore, Wild Boars are being mercilessly shot to death or worse electrocuted by the authorities and villagers. The government may underestimate the greatness and moral progress of the nation but we must prove them wrong and not stand by the government’s failure to protect our animals.
The prime objective of the Tamil Nadu governmental order was to reduce the human-animal conflict, but the irony here is that in a scenario where these wild boars are largely found dead around human communities, the carnivorous animals would move towards these communities in search for their preys. As a result, there will be a dangerous increase in the human-animal interactions. The government order was passed without conducting a scientific study or adhering to the existing preventive measures of reducing the interactions or procedure prescribed by law.
India is currently inhabiting only the remaining 2 of the 7 species of wild boars. Such rampant culling of wild boars may lead to endangerment of the species. Boars are important prey animal for tigers, leopards, wolves, and other carnivorous animals. Their absence will disturb the ecological harmony resulting in food scarcity for already endangered animals such as the Tiger.
In furtherance of protection of these wild boars, we are now in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India questioning and standing for the protection of these wild boars and seeking for this rampant culling in Tamil Nadu to be stopped.
The petition comes up in the Court on 13th November, 2017. Let’s stand together and raise our voices for the voiceless and helpless and fight against such blatant animal rights violations. Let’s ensure that the Wild Boars of India do not become a metaphor for the Messenger Pigeons of USA or the Tasmanian Tigers of Australia who have been lost now forever.

(only first names are being taken for privacy reasons and also for reasons of insecurity/ jealousy/ scams/ lies/ hatered/ rumours spreading/ poaching donor ploy and tactics of our Hater camps/ Competing camps (there are just too many of these clowns out there who stoop to levels beyond imagination, if only they focused half that much energy on real work for our animals,! If only! We wish!) We must confess that we find their obstacle creating negative mindset and dedication to burry their competition extraordinary and born out of fear, insecurity jealousy, part ignorance-part madness and pure competitive spirit, which is a bigger problem for our animals and causes we fight for than the ones we actually fight these causes against (the actual animal haters -killers - poachers and destroyers of our environment.) These haters deserve a real middle finger salute!
